Welcome to Bids Kenya

Why we started Bids Kenya, what you can buy and sell here, and how auctions work in a few simple steps.

Bids Kenya is a place to turn the things you no longer need into cash, and to find useful pre-owned tech and workspace gear without paying new-retail prices. We are based in Ruiru, Kenya, and built for people across Nairobi and the rest of the country.

What you can buy and sell

Genuinely used laptops, monitors, PC parts, consoles, cameras, audio gear, networking equipment, office furniture, collectibles and home appliances. Bids run from KSh 500 up to KSh 25,000, so everyday items find new homes at fair prices.

Mobile phones, new or unused retail stock, counterfeits and stolen goods are not allowed. See the prohibited items page for the full list.

How an auction works

  1. A seller lists an item for free with 4 to 7 photos. An administrator reviews it before it goes live.
  2. You place a bid, then pay a refundable 10% good-faith deposit with M-Pesa to make it count.
  3. When the auction closes, the highest bid wins. If you do not win, your deposit is refunded.
  4. The winner pays the remaining 90% to Bids Kenya, and the seller sends the item once payment is confirmed.
  5. The seller is paid after the buyer confirms they have received the item.
