Guide · Selling your unused gear
Is your old gear worth selling?
A quick way to decide whether to sell, keep or pass on old laptops, consoles, monitors and other gear in Kenya, and what usually sells on Bids Kenya.
Not everything is worth listing. This quick test helps you decide.
Sell it if
- It works, or its faults are small and easy to describe.
- You have not used it for several months and have no plan to.
- You can get it for under KSh 25,000 in a fair auction: that is the cap on Bids Kenya.
- It is not a mobile phone and not new or unused retail stock.
Keep it if
- It is a useful backup, such as a spare laptop or monitor.
- It holds data or accounts you cannot easily move.
- It would only fetch the minimum starting bid and you would resent that.
Bundle it if
Small accessories sell better as a set. A keyboard, mouse and headset together are more attractive than each alone.
