How Bids Kenya protects buyers and sellers
Only genuinely pre-owned items are allowed, and every listing is reviewed before it goes live. Bids start from KSh 500 and every auction is capped at KSh 25,000. A refundable 10% good-faith deposit keeps out time-wasters, and it is returned automatically if you do not win.
Winners pay the balance to Bids Kenya, not the seller. The seller sends the item once payment is confirmed and is paid after you confirm you have received it. Read more in how auctions work, buyer protection and the prohibited items list.
PC hardware: frequently asked questions
Can I buy used graphics cards and monitors on Bids Kenya?
Yes. Graphics cards, monitors, processors, memory, storage, power supplies, cases, cooling and used desktops are all eligible, as long as they are genuinely pre-owned.
Are laptops and phones allowed?
Mobile phones (new, used or refurbished) are not allowed on Bids Kenya. Ambiguous devices such as laptops with cellular modems or tablets go to extra review and are declined unless clearly eligible.
How do I know a part works?
Sellers must describe condition and known faults honestly. After you win, you can ask the seller for extra photos or a video, and if the item differs materially from the listing you can open a dispute for an administrator to review.
How do I bid on an auction?
Open the PC hardware auction you like, enter your bid and click Place bid. Your bid is recorded straight away and goes live once you pay a refundable 10% good-faith deposit with M-Pesa from your dashboard.
What is the 10% deposit and do I get it back?
The deposit is a small good-faith (earnest money) payment of 10% of your bid. It keeps out time-wasters. If you do not win, your full deposit is refunded to your M-Pesa as soon as the auction closes. If you win, it counts toward the price and you pay the remaining 90%.
How and when do I pay if I win?
You pay the remaining 90% to Bids Kenya through M-Pesa within 72 hours. The seller sends the item only after your payment is confirmed, and the seller is paid only after you confirm you have received it.
Is there a limit on prices?
Yes. Bids start from KSh 500 and every auction is capped at KSh 25,000, so Bids Kenya stays a place to pass on pre-owned items at modest prices.
